The Chronicles of Nicole McLean

Nicole McLean, born and raised here in Pittsford, headed off to college in Poughkeepsie to explore the world of Communications, and when she graduated, she decided to come home to be closer to family. After a few disappointing positions in her field, Nicole decided maybe it was best to move to a bigger city in order to be able to put her degree to use. But before she could pack up her belongings, her father asked if she wanted to go into business with her mother. She said yes.

While running and managing Pittsford Wines, Nicole found an unexpected and surprising passion: wine. Devouring wine books, wines, food pairings, and more wine, she absorbed information like a sponge. She loved managing the wine store and in addition, she tried her hand at a gourmet and specialty shop in the location next door. That worked for a while, but after six years, careful consideration, and a decision that a change was necessary, the idea of a wine bar began to blossom. In July of 2015, the space next to Pittsford Wines was converted and Via Girasole Wine Bar was born. More than four years later, it is still thriving and growing, featuring an ever-changing menu with new wines and new cheeses, wine classes and tastings, live music, and much more. Nicole cannot wait for you come enjoy some wine, some music, and some conversation in a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. See what makes Via Girasole Wine Bar "your wine bar on the canal."

The Interesting Life of Susan Matuck

Susan Matuck is a proud mother of five beautiful children and a lover of everything wonderful, especially wine. Although her family always came first, she decided to take a new direction as her family started to become independent. Since she always had a passion for wine, she wanted to explore what the wine industry held and she starting looking for a position with local wineries.

Her wine involvement began with a part-time job at Deer Run Winery located on Conesus Lake. Beginning in the tasting room, working with walk-in clientele and teaching them about the many varietals this local winery produced, she moved her position into outside sales and helped with the event coordinating at Deer Run Winery.

Through during the Holiday season, she would help her friends, who owned stores around the area, with in-store sales. During these opportunities, her passion in wine grew and with her family moving out of her home, she joined a Wine and Spirits family and starting working in their store in 2012 and worked with them for 3 years

As Via Girasole Wine Bar developed, she knew she wanted to be part of another family business and help create an environment where she could share her zeal and bubbly personality with clients new and old.
